Thórsmörk (or Þórsmörk in icelandic) is a mountain ridge that was named after the Norse god Thor (Þór). It is situated in the south of Iceland between the glaciers Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull, and is very popular amongst hikers.
The river we can see is Krossá, wich is a cold fast river coming down from glaciers.

Crossing rivers is part of the everyday life when living inside Iceland. This requires of course a 4WD vehicle but also a lot of experience, as the water level and current can change from day to day.
Here in Þórsmörk, a week later this river had blocked cars and hikers for several days.
Þórsmörk is one of the rare place where you can find forests in Iceland.
Gulfoss is a famous waterfall in Iceland, where water coming from a melting glacier follows the riff between the European and the American tectonic plates.
These two plates are moving apart 2 centimeters each year.
Auroras are also known as the Northern Lights. They are due to the solar wind coming from the Sun and stopped by the Earth magnetic field. They can show up in different colors depending of the altitude : green being the most common, they can be pink, red, yellow blue or white.
Geysir is a classic destination for tourist. It is part of the Golden Circle tour.
